Baby Wren and the Great Gift

Sadly my three boys are getting older and don't like to read kid books as much as they used to.  They enjoy chapter books and graphic novels way more these days.  However I did talk them into reading Baby Wren and the Great Gift!  They agreed that it would be great to pass on to their niece Harley who is one year old!

Baby Wren meets lots of animal friends who invite her to join them on their animal adventures.  Baby Wren comes to the conclusion that she is unable to do all the things the other animals are able to do.  All this is happening until Baby Wren finds out she is able to sing a beautiful song.  This is something none of the other animals can do.  Just like every creation has a special talent, this book encourages us to use it so others can enjoy it!!

This book contains a great life lesson that even a one year old adorable little girl can use.  Baby Wren is an adorable character who teaches a great lesson!

Strong and Kind

If you are looking for an encouraging book on parenting, I highly recommend purchasing this book. Korie Robertson and her mother have written a great book on character qualities any parent would want their children to possess. There are nine specific traits included, then there are ways to carry these out in parenting. As a mom of three boys, I know how hard it can be to be a parent, but I am thankful for resources like this book. I hope I can do as good a job raising my children as this book suggests!

This book would also make a great addition to a gift for parents-to-be (think baby shower gift or baby dedication gift!) or any parent looking for encouragement while in the midst of raising children!

The Play-Along Bible REVIEW

Are you looking for a hands-on Bible for your toddler? This book is perfect. Each scripture passage includes what the reader will say and what your toddler will do (motions) or say out loud. What a great way for Scripture verses to come alive to little ones. I know verses I learned when I was little are still the ones I remember today. It is never too early to start teaching kids Bible verses.

This beautiful book would fit great in an Easter basket for little kids, and will definitely last longer than any chocolate!

Happy Cooking A REVIEW

I was just talking to a co-worker whose daughter got married a few weeks ago and she did not receive one cookbook at any of her bridal showers or as a wedding gift. I think cookbooks are somewhat of a lost art, but if you're looking for a good cookbook to give as a gift, this one would be perfect! Every category of dining is included in this awesome book (including a Clean Eating section!). My favorite section is the Weeknight Warrior recipes. As a busy mom, I am always looking for easy dinner recipes for the family.

This book is chockfull of pictures of yummy foods that won't stress you out. That's the premise of her new cookbook, "Make Every Meal Count...Without Stressing Out".

The Time Chamber *My Review*

Adult coloring books are all the rage these days.  They have become very popular in my Instagram circle of friends.  The benefits of sitting down and coloring can be many.  Stress relief, relaxation, brain stimulation, and increased focus are just some of the benefits one can experience.  I cannot remember the last time I sat down and colored.  I live with 3 boys, so we aren't necessarily the "sit down and have quiet time" kind of family.  But I told my boys that I am going to start taking a little time just for me and engaging in this activity.

The Time Chamber is the perfect book just for me.  The pictures are amazing and look like lots of fun to color.  The cute story that as told also gives me something to look forward to.  Now I just need to sharpen my colored pencils and talk one of my boys into joining me!! {I'm not holding my breath on that one!}

Money Making Mom by Crystal Paine *BOOK REVIEW*

I have been reading Crystal's blog Money Saving Mom for years!  I think hers is one of the first blogs I found when I first googled how to save money/be more frugal.  Crystal has really become popular in the blogging, speaking, book writing world.  I have read each of her books and always learn something.  This book did not disappoint me.

I will say this book is geared towards moms who are wanting to make some kind of income from home.  (Disclaimer...I am a registered nurse and have worked in some capacity in the healthcare field since I graduated from IU School of Nursing in 1996)  While I have been working more hours recently (my kids are all in school), this book is full of encouragement and ideas.  Crystal gives practical advice and ways for moms to start earning money from home.  There are several examples of people who have been very successful thinking outside of the box when it comes to making money.

In order to be successful, you have to have a plan and follow through!  Good intentions do not get you very far if you don't take any action.  I think the last 2 chapters of this book are my favorite.  Crystal talks about how we are able to bless others when we have an abundance (whether it's money, clothing, food, time, or other resources).  I have been on both ends of this (giving and receiving), and every time I come away blessed.  Crystal has been blogging for 10 years, and she is a great example of giving to others.  I am glad to be able to share this book with other moms who will be blessed by her words!
