Hinds' Feet on High Places

I've heard it said multiple times that life is a journey.  It's a journey of highs and lows, ups and downs, happy, and sad, good and bad.  There are seasons of plenty and seasons that leave you downright exhausted.  As a believer in Jesus, there is always the firm foundation of the Bible to go back to and reference.  Sometimes I forget about this solid ground and try to get through life all by myself.  But this is never the case for Christians.  I am thankful for books like Hind's Feet on High Places to remind me of the fact that I need to rely on God.

The original book was printed in 1975, and I know my mom owned a copy of it back in the day.  This new updated book is part story and part journal with beautiful artwork throughout.  It also includes focal scripture verses that can be colored.

"The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places."  Habakkuk 3:19
~This verse is the premise of the story told in the book.

GOD GAVE US FAMILY

I am always looking for good book to read to my kids.  We are by no means a "traditional family".  My husband had a 6 year old daughter from a previous marriage, when I met him.  After we were married, I had one biological son.  Then after years of trying to have more children, we adopted twins!  So the way our family was formed is very different.  Just like every family.  Just because we are different, doesn't mean we are loved any less by the creator of us all!

This book about celebrating differences is great for any kid no matter what kind of situation they are in.  I think the more our kids are exposed to these ideas, the cliches and stigmas are lessened.  I want my kids to LOVE no matter what.  Love wins every time!!

"WE NEED TO LOVE THE FAMILY GOD GAVE US!"  {AMEN!!!}

Needing Help To GET OUT OF THAT PIT

If you are looking for practical ways to get out of a "pit" you are currently in, this is the book for you. I've spent seasons feeling sorry for myself due to various circumstances. This is not a healthy way to live. Beth Moore gives three steps straight from the Bible to help her readers out.

1. CRY OUT

2. CONFESS

3. CONSENT

Reading this book will give you specific things to de when you are in a pit and need help getting out of it!

I am thankful for her words and God's promises that she has shared with me.

TRANQUILITY *A REVIEW*

If you are looking for a unique prayer journal, I highly recommend this book. It is a perfect mix of scripture, inspirational quotes, places to journal, and pictures to color. What a great combination for your quiet time in the morning before the kids get up, or in the evening when the chaos of the day is over. I am always on the lookout for different ways to journal and this would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys writing and coloring!

There are scripture verses quoted, prayers to reflect on and use, unique pictures to color, lots of journaling space.  I think this would be perfect for a new college student to pack and take with her away from home.  This is also great for busy moms who may have just a few minutes during the day for this type of activity!

If you are looking for an encouraging book about an American soldier who has overcome all the odds and is thriving today, this is the book for you!  Wow!  What an awesome story this is.  Faith, family, and love are the things most important to Travis Mills.  You can learn more about him and Tough As They Come here.  We are living is some changing times in America and around the world, but true heroes such as Travis Mills will never change.  People like him are what make me proud to be an American!

Journal Bible for Girls REVIEW

This is the cutest Bible specifically for girls that I have ever seen,  I love the turquoise color of the cover and the elastic band that keeps it closed (no more wrinkled or bent Bible pages!)  As a girl who went to church her entire life (~42 years), I wish this Bible was around when I was a youngster.  This specific Bible is the journal style which has become very popular.  Add a package of color pencils and it's a perfect gift for any girl!

Each page has a section on the side margin that is lined (like notebook paper) It is here you can draw, write, doodle, journal, or write prayers.  This is an awesome feature for anyone who wants to strengthen their relationship with their Heavenly Father.  The NIV version is a popular one at our church.  I cannot find a little girl to give this to!

All The Pretty Things book review

I have followed Edie's blog {Life in Grace} for many years.  I was very excited when she announced she would be writing a book.  It ended up taking much longer for her to write the book than she anticipated.  (I think she did a total of three re-writes)  I cannot imagine the struggle she went through with the words on these pages.  She is definitely an inspiration to anyone on a spiritual journey of their own.  Whether you are a new believer, a non-believer, or a believer since the day you were born, her words will resonate with you.

After being raised by a single mother and an alcoholic father (who was in and out of her life), she was determined to rise above her past.  Her hard work and determination paid off for her when she "mad doctor" like her daddy always said she would.  Her choices caused pain and worry for herself and her children.  Then when her home burned down, there was God with a whole new lesson for her to learn.  (I have vivid memories of my grandparents home burning down in the '80s...this is something I will never forget)  Her book is one to read again and again, then let a good friend borrow it (as long as she promises to give it back)
